Adding a RST IPI
Ensure that the THREAD is turned on and connected to the IPI via one of it's Device ports.
1. Navigate to the Network Module
2. Press the button directly on a THREAD to add a Device to it. If your THREAD does not appear here, you may still need to Add Your THREAD as a Connection.
3. You may also add a device from the button in the Devices & Sensors Section
4. Begin by typing in "RST IPI" and select the name once it autocompletes in the search box
5. Type in the Connect Code of the THREAD that the Device will be connected to. It will already be pre-filled if the button on the THREAD was used.
6. Next, select the THREAD communication port that the device is plugged into, Device 1 or 2.
7. Next, select Edit Configuration to configure the IPI
NUMBER OF SEGMENTS
The number of IPI sensors that are linked together. Adjusting this number will adjust how many segment rows appear
UNIT OF MEASUREMENT
Sets the unit of measurement used when configuring the offsets
FIXED END IPI
Bottom: Use Bottom mode to set the bottom wheels of the IPI as the fixed point. Calculations of tilt will then be calculated from the bottom up. Use when movement is expected at the top of the IPI
Top: Use Top mode to set the Top wheels of the IPI as the fixed point. Calculations of tilt will then be calculated from the top down. Use when movement is expected at the bottom of the IPI
Enter the Serial numbers of each IPI segment as they were installed. "Tilt 1" will represent the top Segment. *Note that RST IPI's have a serial number that start with BIXXXXX. If a "one" is entered instead of the I, it will not work.
OFFSET TO SENSOR
The offset to each sensor is the distance to the next set of wheels. Start from your fixed point and calculate each offset.
Elevation will set the elevation of the fixed point of the IPI. This will allow you to configure the values shown for each segment's elevation when plotting.
Press "Done" to exit the IPI configuration and finally press to write the settings. Your IPI should now connect to sensemetrics indicated by a green icon
Once configured, the IPI segments will populate beneath the RST IPI Device and can be viewed by clicking the drop down arrow.
Click on any of the nested sensors to access the sensor configuration settings.
SERIAL NUMBER - Tilt X/Y
Serial number will be automatically applied from the Device configuration. If not, enter the Serial Number to apply factory calibrations.
Once serial number is entered, you will gain access to Tilt X/Y calculations
REFERENCE DATE - ∆
The reference date will specify the first date used when calculating delta metrics indicated with the ∆

DEVICE AZIMUTH - Northing/Easting
The IPI does not inherently know North/East. In order for North/East to be correctly represented, you will need to specify the device azimuth. This is done by measuring the angle from North to the Reference indicator in a clockwise direction.
Reference Indicator - The Y Axis represents the sensors Reference Indicator (Shown below)
Specify the Sensor Azimuth to use Northing/Easting calculations
This field will allow you to orient the Transverse/Longitudinal Axis in any desired direction. It is useful for finding movement in the direction of a specific structure or any point of reference. See the Structure Azimuth Section on instructions on how to properly set it up.
Specify the Structure Azimuth to use Transverse/Longitudinal calculations
Enter the length of the structure you wish to extrapolate tilt over to calculate a displacement at to top. This will use trig calculations with the Tilt X/Y angles to create a X/Y Vector at the top of the structure.
Specify the Structure Height to use X/Y calculations and allow vectors in Map View.
Configuring the orientation of the IPI will require the knowledge of how the IPI was physically installed. The following will describe physical features on the IPI to reference by.
X / Y
The X/Y Axis will always be fixed relative to the sensor as seen below. Use the upper and lower wheels as a guide.
The IPI's Y Axis will represent the sensors Indicator direction. The Indicator is used to define the Northing/Easting orientation in Device Azimuth.
Note: Tilt the top of the sensor in the Y+ direction will result in a positive Tilt Y measurement.
