Overview

When a user adds a relay to a THREAD, the user has the option of creating a Manual Override relay, API relay, or Pump Saver relay. This article will review how to use the Pump Saver type relay. This tool is to be used when one THREAD has a flowmeter on one port and a relay on the other. With the relay controlling power to the dewatering pump, it can turn pumping on and off dependent on the recorded flow.

How to Setup a Pump Saver Relay

Ensure that the THREAD is turned on and connected to the Relay via one of its Device ports.

1. Navigate to the Connectivity module

2.  Press the  button directly on a THREAD to add a Device to it. If your THREAD does not appear here, you may still need to Add Your THREAD as a Connection.

3.  You may also add a device from the button in the Devices & Sensors Section 

4.  Begin by typing in "Relay" and select the name once it autocompletes in the search box.

5.  Type in the Connect Code of the THREAD that the Device will be connected to. It will already be pre-filled if the  button on the THREAD was used. 

6.  Next, select the THREAD communication port that the device is plugged into, Device 1 or 2.

7.  Select the Pump Saver as the Relay Logic.

8.  Select the Relay Type; Normally Open or Normally Closed.

Normally Open - The relay defaults to being open and when the THREAD applies a voltage to the relay, the relay will close.

Normally Closed - The relay defaults to being closed and when the THREAD applies a voltage to the relay, the relay will open.

9.  Specify the Minimum Flow Rate. This parameter determines when the relay will trip based on the flowmeter that's connected to the same THREAD. Once the minimum flow rate is reached the THREAD will toggle the relay.

10. Next, specify the Recharge Interval. This is how long the THREAD will wait for the well to recharge before it toggles the relay back to its original state to allow pumping again.

11. Lastly, the Prime Interval must be specified. This is how long the THREAD will allow power to the pump looking for flow on the connected flowmeter before power is removed again. This parameter is built to protect the pump from running on a dry well.

Note: This parameter must be set in seconds.
