Overview

Map View is useful tool used to spatially represent any sensor on top of Google Maps. A user will be able to upload custom map layers and overlay sensors that provide real time readings as they are received. 

This article will cover how to add and manipulate the following map features:

  

Adding a Map Profile

Each Map created will be saved as a different map profile. See the Profiles article if you are not sure what a profile is.

Step 1. Click on the Maps module.

Step 2. Click Map to navigate to the Map View.

Step 3. Click on the  icon to open up the map profile settings. Once populated, this tab will show you all your profiles created. 

Step 4. Click the button to create a new Map View Profile.

A. Enter a Name for the profile. 

B. Select a profile projection

Geo-referenced mode uses latitude and longitude to place sensors on the map. All uploaded layer files require a projection.

Use this mode when google maps will be used in conjunction with your map profile.

Undefined mode uses easting and northing values to place sensors on the map. Uploaded layer files do not require a projection.

This will create a project space that you can then upload project grid oriented drawings in.

Once you have created a Profile to edit, clicking the  icon will open the Map Profile Settings. This is where you will be able customize each profile by adding Sensors, Image Views, Layers, and other features.

Sensors   

Every Sensor within your network can be represented by a Sensor Icon on your Map Profile. These sensor icons can be customized to show any of the available metrics the sensor is measuring in real time.

Add Sensors

To add sensors to your Map Profile, click on the  button to open the Sensor Selection Tool. Once added, the user can then move the sensor anywhere on the map to represent it's true location. Click and drag a sensor icon to move it across the map.

Sensor Settings

Click "" to drop down the Sensor Settings from the slide out tab on the left

: Click the eye icon to zoom to a frame that allows the user to view all added sensors within the viewing window

: Click the magnifying glass icon to open the Sensor Selection Tool and add/remove sensors from the current profile

Marker Size: Adjust the size of the sensor icons

Show Values / Hide Values: Toggling this option will show the latest reading for each sensor above it's Icon

Names: Toggling this button will add each sensor's Name below it's icon

Show Types: Select this to open the Sensor Visibility Tool

 

This tool allows you to choose which types of sensors are currently shown on the map by metric type. Move sensors to the visible side to allow them to be viewed and move sensors to the hidden side to temporarily hide them. 

Sensor Tool Tips

Hover over any of the sensor icons to open individual sensor tool tips. Here, you will find specific sensor settings related to the one selected. You are able to change the metric type displayed and subsequently metric related settings. Click the icon to lock the tooltip open.

 

Vector Calculations

Vectors will show up only if you have sensors that show displacement.

  The Displacement Vector option will show up if you have sensors that support displacement calculations. They will appear as vectors protruding from the sensor icon in the direction of movement. Click to toggle vectors on and off.

Click "Sensors" to drop down the Vector settings.

Reference Date/Rolling Interval

The vectors in maps will either use the reference date or rolling interval set here to calculate the vector values. Press the "Sync Sensors" button to update the settings.

Vector Scale

Scale the vectors by the number displayed. Increase the Vector Scale to view tiny movements

 

Prism Connections  

  AMTS to Prism connection is an option if you have an AMTS and prisms selected on the Map. This will show lines connecting the AMTS to the prism and vice versa. Click the icon turn connections on and off. Then, click on each prism to toggle the connection on and off.

 

 

Prism to MTS Connections

Select the units the prism connections are shown in.

Press the graph button to open up a single graph that includes the sensors selected in the profile.

Image Views

Image Views can be added to any Map Profile to provide additional site perspective 

Add Image Views

Click the  icon next to ImageViews to add an available Image View to your Map Profile. 

Image View Settings

Click  "" to drop down Image View settings

Marker Size:  Adjust the size of the Image View Icons

Show All Tooltips / Hide All Tooltips: Toggling this option will toggle the tooltip for each Image View above it's Icon

 

Layers 

Map Layers allows you to upload special files that depict structures overlaid on google maps. They can be any type of custom Layer in the following file formats: kml, kmz, shp, dbf, gpx, and geojson.

 

Add a Map Layer

Click the  icon next to "Layers" to add a custom Layer to your Profile. You will be prompted with the following Layer Editing Module.

If you already have uploaded layers, move an available layer to the selected layers to display it on the current profile.

To add a new Map Layer, click  

You will then be prompted to upload a custom layer file. The file formats supported are: kmlkmzshpdbfgpx, and geojson. If the Layer is comprised of multiple file components, a zip file containing the relevant files may be uploaded.

If a projection is not detected within the file, you will be prompted to specify the projection to be used.

Layer Settings

Click the  icon and "" to drop down the Map Layer Settings

 

Map : Checking and Unchecking this box will toggle Google Maps on and off

Opacity: Move the scroll bar to adjust the Opacity of Google Maps

Map Type: Select "Standard, Earth, Hybrid, of Terrain" to change the style of Google Maps

Uploaded Layers:

Any Layers that were moved to the "Selected Layers" side in the steps above will now be populated here

: Toggle the check box to temporarily show/hide each Layer from the Map profile.

: Click the colored box to open the color options for each layer 

: Click the eye icon to zoom to that specific Layer

: Delete Layer from profile

Note, this will not permanently delete the Layer from the server. It will still be saved under "Available Layers"

 Opacity: Click on each of the Layer Names to adjust the Opacity
